OPEN BOOK
hey stranger.
my creativity has been feeling a bit lopsided lately. i make and make and make, but it doesn’t feel like i’m completing anything.
i think that’s because i’m missing a key part of the creative cycle:
SHARING!
i appreciate the privacy i’ve given myself to explore visual art without anyone else’s eyes on it but now, i feel like the isolation is limiting me. i’ve always leaned on art to help me feel safe, connected, and inspired, and i want to put my own work out there to maybe hopefully make someone else feel less alone too.
i’ve come up with a project that will help me to try sharing my art again without too much pressure. i’m calling it…
“OPEN BOOK”
the name is twofold —
i want to be more of an open book, sharing work that is personal to me
and i’ll be sharing work from my sketchbook, where i draw and write every day.
for this short series, i’ll be sending out weekly friday emails with comics, doodles, visual journals, and drawings from life.
this will not be polished!! my goal is to keep this project as perfectionism-free as possible so that i actually stick to it.
with all that said…
here are the drawings for this week! all the background photos are from a trip to the denver botanical garden with my family this month:
thanks for reading/looking/caring! see you next friday.
